Conduct Research on Jamaican Composers
Was it because of the amazing outburst of Popular Music creativity in Jamaica (which has now lasted for over half a century), that the documentation of all other Jamaican composers has been overlooked?
MUJF saw the necessity to offer Jamaica and the world an attempt at creating a more complete picture, especially in regards to the Music History syllabus being taught here and in the wider Caribbean. Simply put, we owe it to the many Jamaican composers, starting with Samuel Felsted (born 1743), to pull their outstanding works out of obscurity and from the shadow of Reggae Music!
